Congratulations!  Ellen Bouchard is our District’s first place winner of the 2007-2008 “Peace Around the World” poster contest. Ellen is a 13-year old artist in the 8th grade at Norfolk Collegiate School and sponsored by the Norfolk Host Lions Club.

District posters are forwarded to the multiple-district and international-level contests and a Grand Prize winner and 23 merit winners will be chosen by early February and the Grand Prize winner is expected to attend United Nations Day 2008.  For a future program on the Peace Poster Contest, or more information, please contact Lion Ruth Robertson, (757) 898-9049 or E-mail: Brobert164@aol.com.

Judging

Each poster is judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of theme.

Posters advance through several judging levels: local, district, multiple district and international (semifinal and final judging). At the international level, a group of judges from the media, art, literary and youth community select 24 finalists. From those 24 posters a panel of judges select the grand prize winner. The remaining 23 posters are named merit award winners.
